Cannot change ListBox properties of a VBA form in Excel

It is not possible to change the ListBox properties (TextColor, BorderColor, BackColor…) from within the ListBox event procedure. Example:

Private Sub MyListBox_Click()
  MyListBox.BackColor = vbGreen
End Sub

This has no effect. From within another Subs it works normally.

DblClick() is the event you are looking for:

Private Sub MyListBox_DblClick(ByVal Cancel As MSForms.ReturnBoolean)
    MyListBox.BackColor = vbRed
End Sub

But there are plenty of better ways to do it:
