Asp.Net Identity 3.1 with 2FA - remember browser cookie not retained after session

I am encountering the exact same issue as mentioned in this thread: Asp.Net Identity with 2FA - remember browser cookie not retained after session. However, I am using asp.net Identity 3.1.

I am trying to apply the solution given but app.UseCookieAuthentication is obsolete in 3.1 and CookieAuthenticationOptions do not have the same options available as in the answer provided.

Would appreciate any help!
