android - how do i detect a soft navigation bar in react native apps?

Question

I am working on a react-native app, the problem is that when the soft navigator in android is on, i cannot determine that and the dimensions just changes messing it all up. I have tried "react-native-detect-navbar-android" package but always returns true on real devices and emulators. How do i accurately fix this??
