I recently purchased a new Chromebox 3 i3. I have another Chromebox that I've been using for years. After entering my username and password, my settings and Chrome Store extensions were duplicated on the new Chromebox. It was also updated with the newest Chrome build. I noticed that the only sideloaded extension that I had didn't migrate from the old box. I re-sideloaded it*. Upon further inspection, I noticed that one of my extensions from the Chrome Web Store was missing, too. I discovered that it was no longer available in the Chrome Web Store. The extension is called “Font Changer with Google Web Fonts”.
Doing a Google search, I discovered that there was a .crx file of it available for download. https://www.crx4chrome.com/crx/970/
(An e-mail to that site didn't receive a reply.)
The instructions are to convert the crx file to a zip file. I used this resource: https://www.ezyzip.com/plugin-crx-to-zip-convert.html
Then I unzipped it using this resource. https://zipextractor.app/
After that, the instructions say that it is ready to sideload.
But, when I go to Developer Mode in Extensions, and go to unpack it, I get the “manifest is missing” notice.
Is that crx file at crx4chrome a functioning file? The only extension that I've ever downloaded is this one, but I've done it successfully. https://github.com/iamadamdev/bypass-paywalls-chrome
*After re-sideloading the extension, it worked fine. The next morning, though, the extension went missing. So I have to re-sideload that extension every day, which is not a problem for me as I don't use it every day.
