portforwarding - Kibana port forwarding creates redirect loop after changing base path

Question

I have made a website that can access Kibana via a specific path, and to do that I added service.basePath: "/search" to kibana.yml. This works fine; however, now when I try to access Kibana directly through SSH and port forwarding, I get an infinite redirect loop. From trying to access localhost:5601, the url becomes http://localhost:5601/search/login?next=%2Fsearch%2Fsearch%2Flogin%3Fnext%3D%252Fsearch%252Fsearch%252Flogin%253Fnext%253D%25252Fsearch%25252Fsearch%25252Flogin%25253Fnext%25253D%2525252Fsearch%2525252Fsearch%2525252Flogin%2525253Fnext%2525253D%252525252Fsearch%252525252Fsearch%252525252Flogin%252525253Fnext%252525253D%25252525252Fsearch%25252525252Fsearch%25252525252Flogin%25252525253Fnext%25252525253D%2525252525252F etc.

I have not made any other new modifications to Kibana. What is causing this problem and how do I resolve it?
