group by - use of group_by() function results in "Error in check_dots_used..." I tried updating packages and nothing worked. Any advice?

Question

I get an (Error in check_dots_used(action = warn) : unused argument (action = warn)) when trying to use group_by(). I updated dplyr package, ellipsis package, ellipsis-0.3.1, removed tidyverse, re-installed tidyverse, as advised on another comment thread on stackoverflow, and none of that worked. I still get that error message. Does anybody know how I can solve this?
