Feign @RequestLine GET Param which contains / slash value

I have the following feign annotation in my feign client and it is all working ok. Things have changed and I have been told that the {path} is actually a relative file path on the file system and as such will contain 1 ..* / slash characters.

    @RequestLine("GET /api/v1/data/{path}")

I have tried everything including encoding the string prior to calling the feign client so / is encoded to %2F but I just keep getting a 400 error code.

Has anyone found a way of getting around this problem when trying to use reserved characters in the URL?
