python - Adding custom ticks (timestamps) to scatter plot?

I have a scatter subplot using matplotlib in my application.

The main goal of this is to plot data associated for each row that is read from an excel file. So, lets say I have 683 rows and 3 data points for each row, the output looks as below which is fine. enter image description here

But for each row, there is a unique timestamp in excel file in format %M:%S.%f (ex: 39[minutes]:15[seconds].454[milliseconds]). Instead of showing xticks from 0 to 683 for example, is there a way to show the actual timestamps vertically for the ticks it is displaying and/or add even more ticks for more detailed timestamps visibility?

I read you can map any format list into an integer list like as shown here, how can this be done in my case of 683 datapoints?

thanks
