Visual Studio Code only require single Alt press for multi-cursor

Question

In regular Visual Studio, I only have to hold Alt and begin holding left click before I can let go of Alt and continue creating a multi-cursor selection. In VS Code, I have to hold down Alt the entire time or the selection reverts to a regular selection. I find this really annoying and frustrating.

Is there any way replicate the VS behaviour in VS Code?
