Use Path.GetFullPath

string path = Path.Combine(@"c:alphaeta", @"..gamma");
Console.WriteLine(Path.GetFullPath(path));

or the DirectoryInfo class:

string path = Path.Combine(@"c:alphaeta", @"..gamma");
DirectoryInfo info = new DirectoryInfo(path);
Console.WriteLine(info.FullName);

Both will output:

c:alphagamma
