git - Pull/Fetch/Update project doesnt update code

Question

I have a test project in intellij, I am able to commit changes. However, when i go to Git-> update project/pull/fetch nothing updates. I did a online search and tired to use cmd line to type it in, but i dont have a cmd line. I have a terminal. i followed some instructions and went to file->settings->git->git path and changed it to path/sh.exe but i get a error that git is not installed.

I just want to be able to commit/push my changes (which i can do), and pull/fetch it when i need to.
