python - Why does this code give me an error in command prompt on windows?

I've recently got in to programming and decided to try to code a bot, I'm currently trying to run this piece of code.

'# bot.py
import os

import discord
from dotenv import load_dotenv

load_dotenv()
TOKEN = os.getenv('DISCORD_TOKEN')

client = discord.Client()

@client.event
async def on_ready():
print(f'{client.user} has connected to Discord!')

client.run(TOKEN)'''

but when I run the code in Command prompt I'm met with this error

AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'strip'

What could be causing this and how should I fix it. I'm not sure if this is detailed enough for people to help as it is my first time posting here.
