I'm using yq v3 and trying to perform a merge on two different yaml files.
file1.yaml
a: "value"
b: "constant1"
file2.yaml
a: {{ include "someothervalue" . }}
c: "constant2"
I want the final output to be of the form
a: {{ include "someothervalue" . }}
b: "constant1"
c: "constant2"
However, when I try to perform a merge like
yq m file1.yaml file2.yaml
or yq m file2.yaml file1.yaml
I get
a: "value"
b: "constant1"
c: "constant2"
Even if I try to overwrite using the -x
flag, I get
a:
b: "constant1"
c: "constant2"
I think the expression is being evaluated by yq which is undesirable here. How can I work around this?
