The following issue that I'm about to describe didn't surface until I bought a new Chromebox 3 a month ago to replace an older Chromebox that I had been using for the past 4 years. After I sync'd the new one with the old one, and after putting the latest build on the new one, this is what began occurring: After turning off, and re-starting, the one and only extension that I had sideloaded disappeared. The problem keeps repeating: I re-sideload the extension. Use it all day. But as soon as I shut down and re-start, the sideloaded extension disappears anew. I sideloaded a different extension as a test, and had the same issue. I've added an additional user on the new device, too, using a different Google Drive than mine, and that user has the same experience. Tomorrow, I'll have a friend sideload the same extension on his Chromebook to see if it occurs on an unrelated device. Both the new and the old Chromebox are experiencing the same issue currently.
Edit: The extension is still in my Google Drive. Just not in my Extension folder.
Second Edit: I also shut-off all my extensions from the Chrome Web Store to rule out any interference by them.
