I am installing Hadoop using BigTop 1.5.
The way I understand it is that BigTop packages a bunch of Hadoop ecosystem component versions together that are known to work together. In this way I can simply go to the repo of BigTop 1.5 and install all components and I know that they will work. Given the repo I can just download a bunch of components in the following way (Ubuntu 18.04):
sudo apt-get install hadoop* mahout* pig*
I am free to include any component provided in the BigTop repo. In the guide I am following I am also supposed to install bigtop-utils:
sudo apt-get install bigtop-utils
Here are my questions:
- What is bigtop-utils?
- Do I need bigtop-utils?
- Is my definition of BigTop as described above correct, or is BigTop more than just a collection of packages?
