mod rewrite - Apache multiple directories for multiple paths

Question

I need to setup my virtual host to handle multiple paths of the same domain.

So any url with /abc goes to one directory example.com/abc goes to <Directory /path/site/abc></Directory> and everything else goes to a different directory <Directory /path/site></Directory>

<VirtualHost :80>
ServerName example.com
DocumentRoot "/path/site"
Alias /abc "/path/site/abc"
<Directory /path/site/abc></Directory>
<Directory /path/site></Directory>
</VirtualHost>

I tried using Alias /abc "/path/site/abc" and that worked but only for the url example.com/abc any url like example.com/abc/login fails.
