javascript - ServiceWorker Not Activating

Question

I am working on a Progressive Web app and currently working on registering, installing and activating my service worker. I have followed all the steps and I am able to register and also install. But for some reason I am unable to activate the serviceWorker. I have double checked my code and not sure what I am missing.

File Structure

App.js

if('serviceWorker' in navigator){
    navigator.serviceWorker.register('sw.js')
      .then(reg => console.log('service worker registered', reg))
      .catch(err => console.log('service worker not registered', err));
  }

sw.js

self.addEventListener('install', event => {
    console.log('service worker installed');
});
  
// activate event
self.addEventListener('activate', event => {
    console.log('service worker activated');
});

I have also linked the app.js file to the index.html
