Stripe API: upcoming invoices without neither Customer nor Subscription

Question

I would like to preview subscription invoices for users that don't have a Stripe account created yet. Is it possible to do this using the Upcoming Invoice API without passing neither Customer nor Subscription IDs? Like so:

$invoice = $stripe->invoices->upcoming([
    "subscription_items" => [
        [
            "price" => "price_id",
            "quantity" => 1
        ]
    ]
]);

The above PHP sample code doesn't work. It needs a Customer ID to work.

UPDATE: workaround for now is to create a dummy Stripe customer and use its ID to preview subscriptions. tax_rates etc can be passed to subscription_items simulate real invoices.
