Overlaying webcam image with plots in Python and OpenCV

Question

Does anyone have a good approach/example of overlaying plots on top of webcam feeds with python/opencv? I would like to take the webcam, grab a frame, and then overlay a time-series plot (percentage of red in the image, in my case) in the lower left corner. On each frame, I will update the data behind the plot and then want to re-draw the line so that it flows in real-time. Thanks!
