vb.net - .net Charting: only 0.0 as x-values get replaced by data point index

Question

When the XValue property of all data points in all series of a chart is 0.0 the chart will display the data point index as x-value instead of 0.0!

I've set the series XValueType = Single and IsXValuesIndexed = False. No other changed settings nor any additional code.

As soon as a single data point in any of the series is unequal 0.0 the chart is displayed correctly.

This behavior is the same in the designer as in the running program.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong or how to tell the charting control to use the real x-values?
