python - Adding tags to search string for academic database

Question

I have a search string I want to apply to an academic database through their API. However, before applying the search string, I want to add tags to which field the search string should apply (title/abstract/author etc.)

One example is: search_string = (Automation OR Automate OR Automates OR Automating) AND ("Systematic Literature Review" OR "Systematic Review")

I want to change it to: search_string = (title:Automation OR title:Automate OR title:Automates OR title:Automating) AND (title:"Systematic Literature Review" OR title:"Systematic Review")

So, except for the boolean operators, I should add the tag. This should also happen before the " sign. I am thinking about split/join operations, however is there a simpler answer?
