google analytics - GA: Custom dimension values are not updating

Question

I Have created a custom dimension in GA with index 1, I would like to pass custom dimension for each event.

I am doing following to capture custom dimensions.

gtag('config', '{{google-analytics-key}}', { 'anonymize_ip': true,
     'custom_map': {'dimension1': 'dimension_name'} });

Event:- gtag('event','open', { dimension_name:'value',event_label, event_category });

When I enable Google Analytics plugin I see following logs

The interesting part is I see few values getting captured in GA but it is not consistent. Not able to guess, what could have been went wrong.

Can some one tell me, How do I get custom reports similar to realtime reports and what could have been wrong in the process what I am doing.
