mongodb - can't get mongosqld to work on ubuntu - libssl.so.10 and libcrypto.so.10

I am trying to install the mongodb connector (https://docs.mongodb.com/bi-connector/master/reference/mongosqld) and after following instructions on how to get libssl.so.10 and libcrpyto.so.10 into /usr/lib here (mongosqld: /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.10: version `libcrypto.so.10' not found) I now get these errors:

mongosqld: /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.10: version `libcrypto.so.10' not found (required by mongosqld)
mongosqld: /usr/lib/libssl.so.10: version `libssl.so.10' not found (required by mongosqld)

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get mongosqld working on ubuntu 18.04?
