python - Bin Grid cell climate data

Question

I am working with ensemble avg temp data for multiple months. I want to see how often temperatures within various ranges (binned data) occur in each individual grid cell across the entire ensemble. So I believe I would firstly have to create bins to assign the temperatures within the map too. Then I would have to see how many values of each of these bins occur, to then be able to make comparisons between various months. Though Im not entirely sure of a starting point for this task. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
