How to fix problems converting string to datetime with Python / Django?

I have the following two imports:

from datetime import datetime, timedelta
import datetime as dt

If I try

date = dt.datetime.strptime(data['Time'][i],"%Y-%m-%d").date()

I get the following error: AttributeError: 'datetime.date' object has no attribute 'endswith'

If I try

date = dt.strptime(data['Time'][i],"%Y-%m-%d").date()

I get the following error: AttributeError: module 'datetime' has no attribute 'strptime'

I am using Python 3.8.3 with Django 3 - why is it behaving like this and how can I fix this?

Have you checked that data[‘Time’][i] is indeed a string? It looks like strptime got a datetime.date object.
