keyboard shortcuts - How can I prevent workspace.view.scm from auto-selecting the previous file in VS Code?

Question

workspace.view.scm, AKA the shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+G, has recently started auto-selecting files that have changed in the list, rather than automatically going to the Commit Message box. I'll often make a quick change and use this shortcut and immediately start typing, creating an annoying little mess for myself each time.
