ansible - AWX in Docker Container - How to find the docker_host name

Environment:

  • OS = CentOS 8
  • Ansible = 2.9.15
  • AWX = 16.0
  • Docker = 20.10.2 build 2291f61

I know "lookup('env', 'HOSTNAME')" is targeted towards the system running Ansible and will find the local hostname. I am running AWX in a Docker container. When I run the lookup, it runs against the container running Ansible (if you leave the AWX containers with default names, it will return 'awx').

community.general.docker_host_info will provide the result.localhost which is the category I am after but that will run against the target, not the Ansible executer.

Question:

How do I lookup the docker_host (Server running the docker instance) from within a Ansible playbook running on AWX?
