string matching - How do I measure the simalarity between attributes in a database?

I am trying to find or develop an algorithm that is able to find a match on a schema (e.g. from a database) based on a vocabulary consisting of: Name, data type and value range.

Let my explain the problem on a simple example:

We have a vocabulary that looks something like this.

Name	Datatype	Value range
Costs	double	500 - 2000
Velocity	double	0 - 300
Month	int	1 - 12
