text to speech - What's the equivalent of NSSpeechSynthesizer.SpeechPropertyKey.StatusKey.numberOfCharactersLeft in SAPI5 and or espeak?

I've checked the documentation of SAPI and found https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/desktop/ee125234(v=vs.85) but I'm not sure whether this is the right method that returns the current index of the character that is being spoken in the stream. I'd appreciate some insight on SAPI5 and or espeak equivalents of https://developer.apple.com/documentation/appkit/nsspeechsynthesizer/speechpropertykey/statuskey/1448405-numberofcharactersleft#declaration
