xml - Word (.doc) document not readable with Apache POI

Question

I am trying to read and process a Word (.doc) document using Apache POI. Normally it works well. The document contains an Xml table and I can in most cases read it without any problem. There is however one strange case where it does not work.

In that case the table is not readable, however when I cut the table and past it again (without changing anything else) it works.

I have spent much time trying to find a solution or at least understand the cause of the issue, but to no avail. Any help will be much appreciated.
