file - Sqlldr not loading the data into staging table

Question

Sqlldr uses .ctl file to load the data. The file is using trim() on every field , however on 1 field which is number datatype , is throwing error as 'invalid number - ora-01722' . The input file is a pipe separated .dat file converted from a csv. I have checked all the fields and is converted properly. Should i remove trim function ? Please advice
