node.js - Node: log in a file instead of the console

Can I configure console.log so that the logs are written on a file instead of being printed in the console?

You could also just overload the default console.log function:

var fs = require('fs');
var util = require('util');
var log_file = fs.createWriteStream(__dirname + '/debug.log', {flags : 'w'});
var log_stdout = process.stdout;

console.log = function(d) { //
  log_file.write(util.format(d) + '
');
  log_stdout.write(util.format(d) + '
');
};

Above example will log to debug.log and stdout.

Edit: See multiparameter version by Clément also on this page.
